A Forgotten Journey
A Carriage commenced its journey to Scotland, with a very important individual held inside: One Queen Victoria. She was on a journey to a significant building called Torchwood House, in which she would experience an adventure that she could never forget. However, the journey there was something she could forget. After all, she did not know what happened on that trip. What really happened.
The little carriage rocked down the road on its way to its destination, led by Captain Reynolds and his men who protected their majesty’s every move. At this point they had nearly reached the house. Or at least, they were closer to it than they were to where they had begun.
Queen Victoria sat inside of the carriage, oblivious to what was taking place outside. As of yet, that was nothing, but a dangerous encounter was nigh.
The Carriage and the men escorting it reached a wooded area. From within the shrubbery, a figure watched on, glaring at the carriage sinisterly. He had not been seen by anybody as of yet. What he wanted was unknown, if he wanted anything. This figure was a middle aged man who was hooded, with this hood shrouding the majority of his facial features. He kept the hood up. It helped camouflage him after all. The man reached into the pocket of his coat, revealing a small weapon.
Queen Victoria was quite used to assassination attempts. There were people out there who wanted to kill her, for whatever reason, whether that was an attempt to overthrow her position, or perhaps just for the pleasure of the act. Either way, it was evident and Queen Victoria was aware. Usually these assassination attempts had not been hidden from her, and she had luckily been saved. This time round, she would go her whole life without learning what happened on this very trip.
The man continued to linger in the shrubbery as the carriage moved forward. He looked deep towards the many guards who surrounded the Queen, in an attempt to figure out which route he could take and not be caught out. As the Carriage continued to propel itself closer to its destination, so did the hooded man. When the Carriage vanished from his eyesight, the man raced through the shrubbery to catch up with the vehicle and its surrounding men. He gathered up his bullets in preparation to fire.
Inside of the Carriage, the Queen sat comfortably, preparing for the encounters that lay ahead of her. Little did she know that this was the day she would face Time Lords and Werewolves and Cults and Murders. This was to be the strangest day of her life. All Queen Victoria thought was that this was to be a relatively ordinary day for her. Except her ordinary day usually turned out to be disordinary. After all, she was the Queen.
The minutes ticked by, and the assassin followed, awaiting the perfect opportunity to strike. Queen Victoria’s life was potentially in grave danger and she did not even know it. The man stalked the carriage, as time continued to pass by them.
From out of nowhere, there was the sharp, piercing shriek of a gunshot against the sky. All of the Footmen simultaneously looked around them for the source whilst the Soldiers directed their gun in different corners. The man peeped out of the shrubbery briefly. One of the footmen pointed towards the forest, noticing this movement.
“You need to find the origin of that noise.” One of the Footmen asked, baffled. “Potentially one of the Queen’s assassins has been made aware of her voyage.”
“I shall take a look.” A Soldier replied. “I believe it came from the forest.”
“Well go! We do not have time to stand around! And do not make our majesty aware.”
The Soldier hurried into the forest alongside two of his men, staking out the source of the gunshot that had ripped through the forest. Somehow, the Queen had not heard the noise of the bullet hitting the sun, and was blissfully unaware that an assassin was close by. This was the way that the Footmen intended to keep things.
Despite this interference, the carriage continued on route to its destination, leaving behind the three soldiers that had ventured towards the origin of the gunshot. As they did so, the soldiers continued their search, but they could not see a man in sight. Subtle disturbances through the forest were heard. The soldiers split off.
From behind them, the hooded man emerged. Another bullet fired into the air from the barrel of his gun. Two of the soldiers noticed him imminently, turning towards him with their weapons fully loaded. The man groaned.
“Put your weapon down.” The no longer hooded man warned.
“You are in no position to tell us what to do.” One of the soldiers replied. “Place your weapon down. We are in the service of Queen Victoria. We shall shoot to kill if we believe there is any threat to her life.”
“There is threat to the entire world if she lives.”
The other soldier raised his weapon. “Put your gun down or we shoot.”
“Queen Victoria needs to die otherwise something will happen.”
“What sort of thing will happen? You are going to have to be more clear.”
“You’re never going to believe this.” The assassin said. “But something is about to infect the royal bloodline. Something supernatural. And in the far future, it will endanger all life on the planet Earth. If she does not die then the future heritage of this country will be placed in ruins. You have to believe me. You have to let me kill her.”
“Kill him.” One of the soldiers ordered the other. “He is a threat to Queen and Country.”
And with that, the men fired at will, while the other emerged from within the shrubbery. The assassin had been gunned to the floor. The third soldier had missed the events that had transpired. Even though they believed that he was a threat to the life of Queen Victoria, this assassin was in fact correct. If the Queen lived, then she would inadvertently endanger the lives of everybody in the planet in the years that were to come. And she did live.
“I expect the Coach is too far gone for us to reach now.” The Third Soldier confirmed. “However that man was a threat to Queen and Country and we did our Duty as required. The Queen shall live, thanks to us!”
“He was a madman.” The second soldier stated. “He claimed the queen needed to die due to something infecting her bloodline, which I could not quite comprehend.”
The first soldier dug through the pockets of the man, searching for other weapons or clues as to his identity or his motives. He picked out a small watch, which had an empty glass coated front. He held onto it tightly, and much to his surprise, an image formed on the glass as if by magic: An image of a werewolf. Various images flashed through. A scottish man in a brown coat aided by his blond haired young apprentice, a group of hooded monks, five individuals holding advanced technology at a peculiar humanoid creature, a werewolf roaming an antique though glorious building, and concluded by the apparition of a blond haired woman with the most unusual dress sense. Out of shock the soldier dropped the weapon onto the muddy grass. This was impossible.
“That cannot be.” The Soldier said upon staring into the watch.
“What is wrong?” Another soldier asked. “We must be on route to our next destination.”
“That watch is the work of the devil. I cannot quite comprehend it.”
The Soldier dropped to the floor. The two other soldiers kneeled down by his side, startled by this sudden collapse. This soldier was dead. It was as if glaring into this cryptic object had caused his demise. All of this was the impossible. The two soldiers looked at each other with a confused glance.
“He’s dead.” One of the Soldiers confirmed. “How can that be?”
“We best be going.” The other soldier responded.
“We can’t just leave him here! There may be other assassins on the track armed and ready and losing any more footmen or soldiers could place her majesty’s life at stake. We must find a way to alert the others of this turn of events.”
“There is no way. We must leave. We must continue.”
No other assassins would approach them down the line, and no others were aware of the supernatural turn of events that would transpire that very night. Those two soldiers would forever tell the story about the loss of their friend. However, he was right. Those two soldiers would forever be unaware of how this assassin knew the truth about what would occur, or whether he was indeed telling the truth. But he did. And they ignored that warning.
However ridiculous it may have seemed: That warning was correct. The Royal bloodline would proceed to be infected, and place the lives of everybody in Great Britain in great danger.
And in the far future, that was what the people of England would find out…
