Previously: Ram, Charlie and Matteusz collected the Shadow Kin/Human/Rhodian hybrid and prevented it from killing innocent civilians. Inside of Cole Hill Academy, Tanya discovered that Quill had given birth, and the baby had eaten its mother. A man, who was a member of the mysterious group known as the Governors, shot the baby and vanished. With tensions at an all time high following Quills death, Charlie sided with the hybrid, causing a fallout within the group, and for Tanya to shoot her former friend. The Governor who Tanya had seen earlier later arrived and promised the group that he had a solution to all of their problems. This solution was to resurrect Quill, but in order to do so, the Governors revealed one of the group must sacrifice their own life.
Rani and Clyde are walking along the street. Suddenly, day turns to night.
Rani: That’s odd. It’s night time all of a sudden. How is that possible?
Clyde: Don’t you realise now that anything’s possible. I know we’ve left Bannerman Road behind now but that doesn’t mean that the aliens won’t catch up with us.
Rani: That’s freaky. Maybe we should go back to the attic to see what’s going on.
Clyde: We’ve only just come back from there. The walk would be for nothing and I hate backtracking myself. We’ve got to see Cole Hill school anyway.
Rani: I think the end of the world is more important than our new school, Clyde.
Clyde: How do you know it’s the end of the world? Don’t be so pessimistic, Rani!
Rani: I’ll call Luke. That saves us having to take a journey for nothing.
In the attic, Luke is now an adult. He sits down. Maria enters, also grown up.
Maria: Are you alright, Luke? Any alien invasions to report on?
Luke: Not that I’m aware of. It’s just an ordinary day, you know.
Maria: You’re thinking about them, aren’t you? It’s been four years, Luke.
Luke: I know it’s been four years. It’s approaching five. I just want to know what happened to them. Even if they died, I just want to know. The week they went, and Sarah Jane went, that was just the worst week of my life. The worst week of all of our lives.
Maria: I know but we’ve moved on. We have to move on.
Luke: I know, Maria. It’s just that I've kept my old cell phone and everything just in case they needed to call me, wherever they are at the moment.
Maria: Maybe you should start the moving on process by throwing the cellphone out.
Luke: Yeah, I suppose you’re right. I’ll take a trip to the tip at some point.
Maria: Maybe we should check up on Mr Smith. Mr Smith, I need you.
Mr Smith opens up
Mr Smith: Good evening, Maria. Is there anything you need me to report?
Maria: I was just wondering if there are any news updates we need to check out.
Mr Smith: There are no reports of alien invasions or threats to human life. The only news report of interest is of a woman who claims her deceased son has come back to life.
Maria: Probably a nutjob. I’m sure all the press are swarming around her.
Luke: Well I might take a trip down to the tip now then. I’ll be back in a minute.
Maria: See you later, Luke. Mr Smith, have you got any reports on that deceased son?
Luke arrives at the tip and throws his phone in one section. He leaves and it rings “Rani”. Rani and Clyde put the phone down after a few minutes.
Clyde: Is he not responding? Maybe it is the end of the world then.
Rani: Why else would it go from day to night as quickly as that?
Clyde: Well we’re not too far away from Cole Hill. Maybe we should just finish the trip.
Rani: I don’t know. I think we should go back to the Attic.
Clyde: Maria and Luke will have that sorted, don’t worry. That’s not for us to worry about anymore. We’re not alien hunters anymore. Those days are over.
There is an explosion from up ahead. Clyde and Rani duck.
Clyde: Oh my god, what the hell was that?
Rani: Most probably the end of the world coming to bite us in the ass. Let’s take a look.
Inside of the Governors room
Charlie: I’d actually like to hear more about his proposition relating to Quill.
Chairman: Of course, Charlie. We have a substance known as the resurrection oil which was dug up many centuries ago by archaeologists. It has the power to bring anyone you wish back to life, hence the name. But-
Matteusz: I knew there was going to be a but. There’s always a but.
Chairman: In order to bring back someone from the dead, someone who they love will have to sacrifice their life. Quill is the greatest chance you stand at defeating whatever comes through the rift in Cole Hill Academy so make your decision. Are you going to bring Quill back? Which one of you will take the leap? Make your decision.
Tanya: Well Quill’s dead. That’s that. We’re alive. We shouldn’t have to sacrifice our lives in order to save hers. She’s gone now. We’ve still got chance to life.
Charlie: Wait a minute, who said that you could decide for the group?
Corakinus: I recommend that your Governor friend let me go immediately.
Chairman: We’re not done with you yet, Hybrid. Now try not to move or my Governor friend will not hesitate to kill you instantly.
Charlie: Please stop bickering we’re trying to do some more important bickering over here.
Chairman: Of course. Remember that if you make the decision to sacrifice one of you, then it must be someone Quill loved and someone who loved Quill.
Ram: Then that’s not anybody. Quill didn’t love anyone.
Charlie: Quill loved me. I know you may find it hard to believe, but she protected me, and cared for me, and that means she loved me. I ended up being like a son to her.
Ram: That was only because she had a duty. It wasn’t like she had a choice. If she didn’t protect you then she would have been slaughtered or something.
Matteusz: And look what happened now-She’s been slaughtered.
Charlie: But there’s a way to change that. If I sacrifice my life, then Quill will return. I know you all hate me for what I did, and I know I turned on you, but I realise how much of a lunatic I was for doing that. I want you to live, all of you, even Tanya, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that you all do survive and this all works out.
Matteusz: You’re actually willing to sacrifice your life for us?
Charlie: Well, for Quill, really. She’s the only one who can help you.
Tanya: Don’t trust him. There’s probably some reason why he is willing to sacrifice his life. I mean, he doesn’t do anything that isn’t out of self interest.
Charlie: I do care for you all, and I want to prove that.
Ram: Maybe none of us need to sacrifice ourselves. Maybe we could stand together. Be an army. A very shitty army at that, but we could still fight.
Charlie: No, you don’t stand a chance without Quill.
Matteusz: What are we fighting against exactly?
Charlie: Anything we need to fight. Anything that comes through that rift. We all know that there are still things out there we need to fight, and we can’t do that without Quill. I’m going to do the best thing I can and bring her back to life.
Tanya: Well maybe I should take back everything I said about you.
Charlie: I understand why you hate me. Trust me, I hate myself too.
Chairman: The resurrection oils are located behind the door. Please step through.
Charlie walks towards the door. He leans into the door handle.
Charlie: Today has been a struggle, but you are all going to get through what comes next. Quill is the best way to get through everything we face. In my final moments of life, I just want to say that I’m sorry. You all do mean the world to me, and I took advantage of you. This is me doing my best to make up for it. Matteusz, I love you more than anything else and you know that. I don’t want to die on the memory that we’ve broken up.
Matteusz: Well maybe we can be back together. For now.
Matteusz and Charlie hug and kiss. Charlie opens the door and is greeted by a weeping angel. He disappears. The weeping angel stays still.
Ram: What the fuck is that thing? I mean, what the actual fuck?
Chairman: I don’t know, it just appeared. The resurrection oil is behind there. Charlie has just gone. This must be some sort of trick. Charlie must be playing a trick.
Tanya: This is you, isn’t it? We all knew you couldn’t be trusted.
Chairman: I know nothing about this. This must be orchestrated by Charlie.
Corakinus: Release me from your grasp, pesky Governor, at once.
Corakinus grabs the weapon and stabs the Governor several times. The chairman of the Governors zaps him. The Governors grab the remaining students.
Ram: You just killed the last remnants of my girlfriend! You killed her!
Chairman: She was already dead. And she couldn’t survive. That thing may be intriguing, and there may not be a logical explanation for it, but it serves as a threat to our very existence, and therefore it must be eradicated.
Tanya: Let go of us and tell us what the fuck is going on!
Chairman: Just blink a few times and all your problems will go away.
Ram: What does that mean?
Chairman: Tie them all to a chair and make sure all three of them are facing in opposite directions. We need to make sure they don’t survive this.
Governor: We made the Angel transport Charlie to the destination. Do we make them snap the necks of the students or do we transport them away?
Chairman: It doesn’t matter. Either way, there is no way they will return.
Matteusz: All that about Quill and the resurrection oil. That was all faked?
Chairman: We have the ability to bring her back, but yes, we have no intention of resurrecting her. Any threats to our plans shall be eradicated.
Ram: What exactly have you got planned? Can you tell us that?
Chairman: I suppose there’s no harm in telling you that as you won’t survive this, but we can’t risk our plans getting into place. You’ve all cheated death multiple times, and we have to make sure that everything is kept under wraps for now.
Ram: What are those things? The stone statues I mean?
Chairman: Oh those are our benefactors. They are working together and getting rid of all those who are of no use to us. When the invasion commences, they shall be on the front line fighting for us, until all of this is done and dusted.
Tanya: You are planning an invasion? There’s no chance of that happening.
Chairman: There’s nobody who has the power to stop us. Torchwood have disappeared from the rada, UNIT stands no chance and the one you call the Doctor-Well, he won’t be able to save you. Not this time, I’m afraid.
The students are placed in opposite directions. Two more weeping angels appear.
Chairman: Since we’re feeling polite, we’ll ask if you have any last words?
Ram: You’re telling me that thing is going to kill us? Oh no, that isn’t happening.
Matteusz: Is Charlie dead? Did that thing kill Charlie?
Chairman: No, Charlie’s alive. It’s a pity you soon won’t be. Turn around, Governors.
The Governors turn around. There are screaming noises. In 13 Bannerman Road, Maria is watching a news report on Mr Smith. Luke enters.
Luke: Are you still watching reports about the resurrected son?
Maria: It’s just interesting. How could her son just come back from the dead like that?
Luke: Maybe it’s a scam? Maybe it’s just an easy way to grab publicity? My guess is that the mother faked her son’s death just so she could get some attention out of it.
Maria: Come on, Luke, please, you know that sometimes strange things happen. I mean, sometimes there are miracles, aren’t there? Remember that miracle day thing where nobody could die? Sometimes strange things happen. Maybe this is one of those things.
Luke: I guess it’s no harm in watching. It could be a miracle sort of thing.
On the report, a reporter has visited the woman
Rhonda: I’m Rhonda Trent and I’m here in Cardiff where a woman has reported that her son, who died in 2011 in a car accident, has come back to life. She treats this as some sort of miracle, and experts are debating whether this is all some sort of publicity scam, or whether Grace is telling the truth, and Greg has really returned from the grave. We go inside to interview Rhonda for the first time on our channel. Good afternoon, Grace.
Grace: Good afternoon, Rhonda. I am delighted that you have taken time out of your day and out of your news channel to talk about my story.
Rhonda: It’s just remarkable. People don’t come back from the dead every day.
Grace: No they don’t, and that’s what’s so fascinating about this. Five years ago, I lost my son because an idiot wasn’t looking at the road because he was so invested in his cellphone. And now, my son is back. It’s a miracle, it really is.
Rhonda: Is your son Greg here today? I’d love to talk to him.
Grace: Of course he’s here. Greg, Rhonda from Channel Cardiff is here to speak with you.
Greg: Hi Rhonda it’s really nice to meet you. I guess you want to know what happened.
Rhonda: I know you must get so many people ask, but I’m certainly intrigued.
Greg: Well I was walking along the road one day and then bang, a car went straight into me and I died. The next thing I knew I was back on that very road, and I got up, and I was alive. I don’t know how it was possible. I knew I died. I can remember the darkness. The eternal, horrid darkness that had been haunting me for five years, but I was soon out of the black and into the white. Out of the nothingness. Into here.
Maria: It’s just remarkable, isn’t it, Luke?
Luke: I really don’t believe a word of it. Turn it off, Mr Smith, please.
Mr Smith turns the report off.
Maria: This is actually something interesting that we might want to look into but you’re refusing to because you think it’s all some sort of big scam.
Luke: I don’t think it’s some sort of big scam. I know it’s some sort of big scam.
Maria: Come on, have a little positivity for once. A miracle has happened here. Just think on the positive side of that for once rather than the negative edge.
Luke: I’m sorry, Maria. You know I’ve not been the most positive of people since mum went and Clyde and Rani went. I just don’t believe that this is true, and I don’t believe we should be giving it any of our time and attention.
Maria: If you ever need to talk about Sarah Jane, Rani, Clyde or anything that happened on that week where they went, please remember that I’m here.
Luke: I know you’re here, but there’s nothing to talk about. They’re gone now. They’re forgotten about. Forgotten about by everybody but me.
Maria: Why don’t we go and look into the Grace case to get your mind off it?
Luke: I told you, the Grace case is a scam, and everybody’s reporting on it. There’s no way we could find new angles or anything because every angle has been covered.
Maria: We always find a new angle. How about this idea-You prove that Grace is lying and all of this is a scam, if you believe so strongly that it is.
Luke: Alright I will. Maybe you’re right. That might get my mind off the Rani and Clyde thing. I need to stop thinking about them after not thinking about them for four and a half years. So let’s move on. Let’s investigate the phony Grace case.
The Governors turn around once again in their room. The bodies of Ram, Tanya and Matteusz are lying on the floor. The weeping angels are gone.
Chairman: Thankyou, angels, that cleared up a lot of our problems. With Quill and her friends gone, we can push forward with the next stage of our plan.
Governor: What is the next stage of our plan?
Chairman: We have briefed you on the next stage of the plan before.
Governor: I would like to warn you that there are other forms of opposition.
Chairman: This is a war. We need some form of opposition. No human force could ever stop us or the Weeping Angels. We are an unstoppable force.
Man: Do I receive the reward that I had been promised yet?
Chairman: Of course. Tomorrow you shall be brought in as the headteacher of Cole Hill Academy. You shall lead our army and begin the conquest.
Man: I cannot believe you would give me a duty with as much honour as that.
Chairman: I trust you with that duty. We may have gotten rid of the opposition at Cole Hill Academy, but we are not done with Cole Hill Academy. It will be our front line from where we will fight. The weeping angels shall move in from there. We shall begin.
Man: So tomorrow will be the beginning of the war?
Chairman: Why, of course. The Earth will not be ready for what awaits it tomorrow morning.
Governor: I believe it would be wise to take some extra precautions. Perhaps we should get rid of certain threats. I’m sure they could stand a chance.
Chairman: Trust me on this, Number three. There are no errors in our plan.
A gunshot is fired from the distance. A figure enters. It is Quill.
Quill: No errors? Are you sure about that? There’s a big fat one holding a gun at you now.
Luke and Maria depart Bannerman Road. Luke drives them towards the tip.
Maria: What are we doing here? We’re not going to find anything about the Grace case out here. This is just a tip. There’s not going to be any clues here-
Luke: I know you said to take my mind off Clyde and Rani but-
Maria: No, I’m not letting you get your old phone back. I know you miss them. I miss them. But if they’re not going to come back in four years, they’re not ever going to come back.
Luke: We never know that. We’ve got to be a little bit optimistic.
Maria: You can only be optimistic when there’s something to be positive about and there’s nothing to be positive about. I’m sorry, Luke, I know it’s hard to say, but Clyde and Rani are never coming back. There’s no point in keeping an old phone that you threw out earlier in the day. There’s no point. We need to move on with our lives.
Luke: Well chucking the only chance of communicating with them if they ever come back away isn’t going to help that. I’ve changed my mind. I need the phone back.
Luke digs through the tip. He finds the phone. There is one missed call.
Luke: Oh my god I can’t believe it. I had a feeling that they’d be back.
Maria: What do you mean you had a feeling they’d be back?
Luke: I’ve got a missed call. And it’s from Rani. They’re back.
Quill aims her gun towards the Governors
Man: This isn’t possible. How are you back? I saw you get eaten by the baby.
Quill: There’s an explanation for everything, honey, but I’m not going to bore you with that right now. I know you have my friends here somewhere.
Chairman: Your friends are dead. Their necks snapped. Murdered.
Quill: If I can survive, then they can too. Or at least I’m going to kill you to avenge them.
Chairman: I’d like to see you try, Quill.
Quill: You have no idea what I’m capable of. And you’ll be dead before you find out.
Quill grabs one of the other Governors and holds a gun to their head.
Quill: I know you’ve got something in store. Some kind of secret operation. I know that you can’t do it without one of your friends so stay still.
Chairman: Leave him be. We’ll do whatever you want, just let him go.
Quill: I want my friends back.
Chairman: There’s no way to get your friends back. They’re dead.
Quill: But they don’t have to be, do they? I know for a fact that you’ve got technologies within this very room that have the power to bring the dead back, don’t you?
Chairman: Yes, but in order to bring one back you must sacrifice one you love. Charlie was willing to do it for you. Would you be willing to do it for him?
Quill: No, but I’m sure you would be.
Chairman: Turn around, Governors. Let’s do this the easy way.
The Governor in Quills arms crawls out and turns around. Quill turns around and sees a weeping angel in front of her.
Quill: I’ve seen these things before on Rhodia. They’re the weeping angels. The legends used to say that if you blinked, then they would move. If you turned around then they would move. If they get close enough, they can send you back in time, or kill you. I’d rather go for the back in time option, because at least then I stand a chance.
Chairman: You don’t stand a chance against the weeping angels.
Quill: Of course I do. I’ve just got to not blink for the rest of fucking eternity.
Quill backs away a few steps. She turns around and there is another one. She moves out so both are in her view. Another one approaches from behind her. She moves to where all three can be watched. Another one approaches from behind her. She hurries away while looking behind her and grabs the chairman, holding him at gunpoint.
Quill: I knew that there was always a way to escape and I knew that would be easy. I’m not letting you live today, Governors. I don’t know what you have planned for Cole Hill Academy or the world, but just be aware that I’m always coming for you.
Chairman: You are obviously very capable, Quill, but just be aware that if you kill us today, darker forces than you could ever imagine will come for you. This operation will not die with us. Do you really want to face the evil one?
Quill: I don’t really care. I’m sure I’ll be able to handle him.
Quill kills the Chairman. She kills all the other Governors in the room.
Quill: Oh I hope this works. I really do hope that this works.
Luke tries ringing Rani back, and then Clyde, but there is no answer.
Luke: There’s no hope. If only I didn’t throw the phone away when I did. The one time when I could have had a chance to speak to them again. To know where they are.
Maria: It might not have been them. Someone might have gotten hold of their phones.
Luke: Even so, I just want to know what happened to them. I’d give anything to know. I’d give even more than that to see them again. It’s been bugging me for the last four years of my life and I want to get it off my mind somehow.
Maria: I know you do, Luke, but face it: This is over.
Luke: I refuse to believe it is. You may want to investigate this stupid Grace case, but I want to figure out exactly what happened to Clyde Langer and Rani Chandra.
Quill grabs the Chairman's body while looking at the weeping angels. She opens a door, leading to the ressurection oils. She drops the Chairman inside.
Quill: The legends stated the sacrifice had to be somebody who the dead loved, but I’m not sure if that is true. I think I’ve found a trick in the system. If I place the body inside while thinking of the one I want to return, then maybe I can find a trip in the system.
A Governor comes up to Quill and wacks her with a gun.
Governor: This is not over, Quill. The game is not done. He is coming for you.
Quill: I don’t give a shit.
Quill shoots him in the head, killing him. She throws him in the ressurection oil before grabbing another two Governors and throwing them in too.
Quill: Charlie, Ram, Matteusz, Tanya-I don’t know whether this will work but I need to bring you back. I never thought I’d say it, but I need you. Coal Hill Academy needs you.
The weeping angels surround Quill.
Quill: Ah shit. I forgot about you, you little bastards.
The resurrection oils begin to bubble over. There is a small explosion.
Quill: There might be a chance that this could have gone wrong and this whole place is going to explode in a few seconds. I’d recommend not killing me, Angels, because we’ve got a lot of work to do. We need to get out of this alive. Well, I do. I did last time when I was eaten by my baby so I’m going to do the same thing this time.
Quill crawls under the weeping angels while not blinking and runs towards the exit of the Governors room. The door is locked. She desperately tries to get out.
Quill: Please let me out. I ideally don’t want to get killed twice in one day.
Quill bangs on the door but it does not open. The weeping angels approach her.
Quill: Whoever or whatever saved me last time, please help me, because I’m in deep shit.
The room explodes. There are a number of small explosions, before Cole Hill Academy blows up. Tanya wakes up outside. Rani and Clyde watch over her.
Rani: Are you okay? What the hell just happened?
Tanya: I think-I think I just died-
Next Week: Somewhere Else
