Previously: Trying to find a way out of the so-called hospital of angels, Quill leads Charlie, Ram, Matteusz and Tanya to safety in the search for the escape hatch which can lead them back to Coal Hill Academy where they can stop the Governors invasion. Earlier, Quill killed Rani, believing that she was a Governor and feeling guilty, rushed to save Clyde who she had left to feel as if she was responsible for Rani’s death. The Governors had already commenced their battle. The end was nigh. Will Quill and the gang be able to stop them?
Three dozen Governors stand armed outside of Coal Hill Academy surrounded by weeping angels, all standing in a perfect line.
Governor: It is time for us to launch the invasion. Kill everyone in sight. Destroy all buildings. Spare nobody. This is what we have been waiting for. The Earth shall be our property.
Other Governor: I have been alerted that Daniel and the other Governor elders have been destroyed in the fake hospital by Quill. We need to get rid of her.
Governor: Blow the damn place up. We no longer need it.
Third Governor: It is time for us to march. It is time for us to claim our new land.
The Governors charge forward. The weeping angels move but this is not seen. Passers by approach and run away but the Governors kill them all. Weeping Angels shift through homes and kill innocent people. The Governors separate and walk around the streets, killing everybody that they pass. On the hospital of angels.
Tanya: We need to get out of this place right now.
Charlie: We can’t leave without Quill. She’s our only hope.
Tanya: I know I told you I hated you, and I still do hate you, but she’s not our only hope. You can save us. You’re one of the most powerful people on the planet.
Charlie: Thankyou Tanya. That means a lot coming from you.
Ram: I think Tanya’s right. We need to shift it. Quill can follow after us.
Matteusz: I’ll be so glad when this day is finally over.
Clyde looks over Rani’s body, crying. Quill approaches.
Quill: I’m so sorry. I thought you were Governors.
Clyde: Don’t talk to me. Do not fucking talk to me, okay. You have no right.
Quill: I’m going to get you out of this place. I want to make it up to you.
Clyde: There’s no way to make it up to me. When you killed her, I had no idea who she was because of the drugs they had given me. But when I remembered, I just couldn’t stop crying. And now you deserve to be buried alongside her.
Quill: I’m your only hope of saving you and everyone you love and everyone on this planet. We need to get out quickly. The Governors have began their invasion.
Clyde: Who cares anymore? I loved Rani, and I never even got to tell her that because you shot her in the fucking head.
Quill: There’s still people you care about on Earth, aren’t there? There’s your mum, and your family, and your friends. Come with me and save them.
Clyde: I’m not coming with you. I want you to leave. Go away. I don’t care if the Governors kill me here today. This world is nothing without Rani.
Quill: Oh shut the fuck up and get the hell out of here. I’m trying to change. I feel guilty.
Clyde: I’m glad you do. You left me here to try and make me feel guilty for her death. Well you know what? We can feel guilty together.
Quill: Just get out of this place, the Governors will kill you.
Clyde: I told you that I don’t care. Go save the planet. I’m done with that. I’m done saving the planet. I’m done protecting the world. I lost Sarah Jane, and now I’ve lost Rani. There’s no point. All good in this world has been sucked out.
Quill: Stop feeling sorry for yourself. I’m not going to leave you here.
Clyde: Well I’m not coming with you. I’ll tell you what, you can finish the job. Rani’s gone, so why don’t you do the same for me? Speed up the process. Shoot me in the head.
Quill: I’m not going to do that. I would have done, but not anymore.
Clyde: Do it. Do it, and then I don’t have to die here. Why don’t you just shoot yourself and then your sorry little hopeless life will be gone too.
Quill: Alright, I’ll leave you here to rot and burn with your friend then.
Quill walks away before turning round and pointing her gun at Clyde.
Quill: A few moments ago I killed the leaders of the Governors, and they’re going to be angry about that. They’re going to come after me, and probably blow this whole place up so all their problems will go away. I’m not going to let any innocent people on this ship die. I’m sorry about Rani. I know what I did was wrong, but I just didn’t know.
Clyde: Well you should have known. She was the most important person in the world to me.
Quill: I’ve lost everyone who was ever important to me, but my friends are still on this ship, and I never would have said it before today, but they’re important to me and I don’t want to lose them, and I don’t want them to lose you.
Charlie: Quill, there you are. We need to get going.
Quill: I know, I’m just trying to convince Clyde to come along with us.
Clyde: And I’m trying to tell her that I don’t want to go with her.
Charlie: Well we’re leaving. I won’t lose another world.
Quill: Okay, Charlie, I will be down soon. Come with us, Clyde.
Clyde: Alright, I’ll come. I’ll come, okay. You can sense my fear of death and I don’t want to die here today. I don’t trust you, and I will never trust you because you killed my friend, but I have to go. I have no choice if I want to survive.
Quill: And imagine describing to your family everything that happened today.
Clyde: Oh they’d believe it. I’ve been in some more ridiculous positions.
Quill helps Clyde up. They walk along for a while until Clyde trips Quill up, grabs her gun and shoots her in the heart.
Quill: What are you doing? Put the gun down.
Clyde: You killed Rani, and I’m going to make you pay for that. You’re going to die out here slowly. It shouldn’t be the rest of the world that has to pay for Rani’s death, which is why I will help your friends stop the invasion, but it should be you that does.
Quill: You can’t let me die here. Please, come back-
Clyde: This is what you deserve. This is what you’ve always deserved.
Clyde hovers the gun towards Quill but an explosion hurtled him towards the wall. He wakes up, but sees Governors patrolling the area. They shoot Quill multiple times, finishing her off. Clyde wanders down another corridor leading towards the escape hatch. One of the Governors grabs him and holds a gun to his head.
Governor: Have you got any last words?
Clyde: There are people out there who won’t let you get away with this. They’ll stop your invasion, even if I’m not able to. Even if Rani’s not able to. You can’t stop them. There are extraordinary forces on this planet that even you wouldn’t believe.
Governor: Nothing can stop us now. The Invasion has already begun.
Clyde: That doesn’t matter. It’s never too late for the people that will stop you.
Charlie, Ram, Matteusz and Tanya hurry out of the escape hatch. Tanya hurries into an alleyway where the Governors are killing homeless people. She throws one towards a bin, grabs their gun and shoots the other two. She shoots a bullet through a window next to her and dives through it, before shooting the Governors in the building. She hurries up the stairs and throws a Governor off before he can kill the man he is holding, and then shoots another Governor off the staircase. She bursts through a room and chucks a Governor out of the flat window. A Governor enters the door and holds a gun towards her.
Governor: Put your hand up, now, or we will kill you.
Tanya: I don’t know what’s been stopping you from killing me. You’ve kept me and my friends alive. Is there something you need us for?
Governor: There is nothing we need you for. We had no reason to keep you alive.
Tanya: Then why don’t you kill me? Why don’t you just pull the fucking trigger?
Governor: I-I-I can’t do it. I can’t pull the trigger.
Tanya: You’ve killed dozens of people today and yet you can’t kill me. There’s obviously some reason why you’re keeping me alive. Well, I can’t wait to find out what that is. I don’t have time to wait. I’ve got to save the other people in this building.
Governor: You are not. I will pull the trigger if you dare to move.
Tanya: No you will not. There’s something stopping you from pulling the-
The Governor shoots her. Elsewhere, Ram enters a house. It is April’s house.
Ram: Oh my god. This is-Oh no, I can’t-I need to get out of here.
Matteusz: You can’t leave. We’ve got to save everyone. I’m guessing that April’s mother would be around here somewhere, so we need to save her.
Ram: This just brings back all those memories. From today.
Matteusz: I know it’s difficult, but when lives are on the line, you’ve got to move on.
There is a scream. Ram bursts through a door and punches the Governor holding Jackie. He carries Jackie out of the room.
Jackie: Oh Ram you’re my hero! Where is April?
Matteusz: We’ll come back later, Ram. We don’t have time.
Ram: I can’t just leave her, Matteusz. I’ve got to tell her the truth.
Jackie: The truth about what? What has happened to April?
Matteusz: Look, we need to go. The Governors are killing innocent-
Ram: This is important. She needs to know. You can go, Matteusz. (Matteusz leaves). It’s about April. I’m so sorry, Jackie. I’m so sorry but she’s (Starts crying) Oh, it's too hard to even say it. She’s gone, Jackie. April’s gone.
Jackie: What-No-She can’t have-You must be lying-
Ram: I wish I was but I’m not and that tears me to shreds.
Jackie (Cries): What happened to her? How did she-?
Ram: All that business with the Shadow Kin and the shared heart. The bodies were mixed together, and these evil beings known as the Governors killed her. I’m so sorry.
Jackie: And these Governor people. Did you stop them?
Ram: That man that attacked you was one of them. They’ve launched an invasion.
Jackie: Oh that’s the invasion that your friend was talking about. Well get out there and stop them. Stop them from killing more people. Stop them from killing other innocent people like April who always just wanted to be kind and considerate and positive. Save them. Stop these creatures. Get out there now.
Ram: Are you sure you’re okay?
Jackie: Of course I’m not okay. I’ve lost my daughter, but you’ve got the opportunity to stop other people from going through the same thing. Do what you can, Ram.
Ram: I’m so sorry, Jackie. I wish I could have done something.
Jackie: So do I, but sometimes that’s just the way it is.
Ram kisses her on the cheek and hurries out of the door. Charlie hurries down a motorway and spots a bomb which is about to detonate. He hurries through rows of cars and beeping horns and grabs the bomb, throwing it towards a forest. The bomb drops back down into a motorway. A weeping angel stands in the forest. Charlie jumps to duck the explosion. All the cars find themselves in flames. Charlie helps people out. Weeping Angels shift through the motorway. They snap the necks of three people.
Charlie: I know this may sound difficult, but don’t look away from them. You may never believe it but an alien invasion has begun.
Person: Are you one of the alien hunters from Bannerman Road?
Charlie: Something like that. I just need you to keep looking at them. Don’t blink. Don’t look away. They will kill you. I’ll see if there’s any more of them.
More weeping angels surround the motorway. A van throws them across the road. Charlie looks at the Angels. Maria and Luke get out of the van.
Maria: We hear there’s a full blown crisis. We’re here to help.
Clyde is still held at gunpoint by the Governor.
Clyde: Why aren’t you killing me then? Why don’t you just pull the trigger?
Governor: I want to make you afraid, and then when you least expect it, I will destroy you.
A Weeping Angel touches the Governor. Clyde hurries through the hospital, dodging weeping angels. He bumps into one.
Clyde: What are you then? And what did you do to the Governor back there? Are you going to speak? Do you even have the ability to speak? Are you here to help me or are you here to kill me? Because I really don’t mind if you do either. Well, I’m a bit afraid of death, but I guess everybody has their time, and now Rani, the woman who I wanted to spend my life with, has gone, I guess that this should be my time.
A Weeping Angel appears from behind Clyde and snaps his neck. He drops to the floor in pools of blood. Tanya lies on the floor as the Governor leaves.
Governor: I will leave you to die out here. You think you have the power to stop me and stop this invasion, but you aren’t smart enough to figure out how.
Tanya: You should know I’m very smart, and I think I’ve figured it out. I think you don’t want us dead because you know that something will happen.
Governor: Shut your mouth. Goodbye, Tanya.
The Governor exits but he is soon kicked into the wall. Matteusz enters.
Matteusz: Ram is talking to April’s mum. He feels guilty for what happened to her and wants to make up to her but he needs to help-Oh my god Tanya what happened?
Tanya: I know this sounds stupid, but grab that gun and shoot yourself.
Matteusz: I’ve already died once today and I don’t really want to die again.
Tanya: Just do as I say. Earlier on when we were brought back to life, I think that was the Governors. They want us alive, because they know that when we’re dead, something bad will happen to them. I don’t care if it means we die, but if it means saving the rest of the planet then we’ve got to do it. We’ve got to kill ourselves.
Matteusz: This is ridiculous. We can’t just do that.
Tanya: We’re going to have to. You need to get Charlie and Ram to do it too. I know it doesn’t make any sense, but it might just work.
Matteusz: I don’t want to do this.
Tanya: If we came back last time then we’re going to come back this time. Trust me. Grab the gun on the floor and kill yourself.
Matteusz grabs the gun and shoots himself in the head. Tanya crawls towards the gun and does the same. On the Motorway.
Charlie: I’m sorry, but am I meant to know who you are?
Person: Oh my god it’s Maria and Luke from Bannerman Road!
Maria: We don’t even need to bother to introduce ourselves then. We’re the alien hunters from Bannerman Road and we’re here to hunt some aliens. I’m not sure who you are but I think it’s best that everybody on this motorway should get the hell out of here.
Charlie: The Governors have launched a full scale war against the planet.
Luke: The Governors? Who or what are the Governors?
Charlie: They are the beings who have invaded our planet and are attempting to wipe out the entirety of the human race.
Maria: I don’t mean to alarm you, but something’s happened.
They turn around. Weeping Angels surround a heap of dead bodies. One Weeping Angel is right behind them. Luke moves back towards the van.
Charlie: No! Don’t move! They won’t move if you keep looking at them!
Maria: You mean that if we look away they will kill us all?
Charlie: That’s exactly what I mean, just like they killed everyone on this motorway that survived the explosion. I know that we are outnumbered and there are quite a few of them on this motorway but we’ve got to have them all covered.
Luke: They’re coming from all directions. What are we meant to do?
Charlie: We either keep watching every single angel on this motorway or we suffer the consequence of death, which I don’t know about you, but is something that I don’t particularly want to go through today.
Maria: I’m sorry, but who exactly are you again?
Charlie: I’m Charlie, and I’m an alien, the prince of Rhodia to be precise. So if you want to hunt some aliens, then don’t hunt me because I’m here to help.
Maria: You’re the only ones that know what these things are.
Luke: What about the Governors? Didn’t you say they’ve started an invasion?
Charlie: I’m sure that my friends are on to that right now. We’re in a bit of a tricky situation which means we don’t have the opportunity to deal with that.
Maria: There must be a way to get out of here. We can’t just stay here forever.
Charlie: No we can’t. Eventually we’re going to die. Where’s Quill when you need her?
Maria: Who’s Quill? Is she another alien friend of yours?
Charlie: For a matter of fact, yes she is, and another one that although you feel like you want to hunt her, you shouldn’t because she can come in handy quite a lot of the time. Annoyingly, she isn’t here to rescue us right now.
Luke: Is there any way to get out of this alive and with our heads intact?
Charlie: These Angel things have other abilities. They send us somewhere that they like to call the Hospital of Angels. If we get them to touch us, then we could end up there. But it’s a matter of controlling them not to snap our necks.
Luke: Well it’s worth a go. I don’t really want to die on this motorway. I’ve always hated it.
Charlie: Walk over to one of those angels that has their hands out.
Charlie, Luke and Maria walk over to the Angels and find themselves on the hospital of angels once again. Luke and Maria looked down and saw Clyde’s body. They cry.
Luke: No-No-No-NO! He can’t be dead. He’s only just come back. I don’t want to-
Charlie: I’m so sorry, Luke and Maria. I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he was a friend.
Maria: You knew him too?
Charlie: I didn’t, but I know that some of my friends knew him. Are you friends with Rani too? Because if you are, then I’m so sorry to tell you that-
Luke: She’s dead too? Why? How? What? (He breaks down, as does Maria)
Charlie: I know it’s difficult. I’ve lost more than you can ever imagine. But right now, there is a full blown invasion going on and we need to stop it.
Luke: We need to pay our respects. Our closest friends are dead.
Maria: I just can’t believe it. This is all because they went after that Tanya girl.
Charlie: Tanya isn’t responsible for this. The Weeping Angels are. And, well, Quill.
Maria: I can’t believe it. I think it’s only right that we stay here to pay our respects. You can go, Charlie, it’s fine. I just don’t think it’s right to leave them without saying goodbye.
Luke: I don’t want to break this to Carla. She won’t be able to cope without her boy.
Charlie: I’m sorry for your loss, I really am, and I’m sorry I can’t pay my respects, but I need to go. The human race is in danger and I need to stop the Governors.
Maria: That’s fine. It’s okay. Just go.
Charlie walks off. There is a neck snapping noise. Maria and Luke, still teary eyed, look at each other. They walk down the corridor where their necks are snapped by a weeping angel. Ram walks out of April’s house where a Weeping Angel also snaps his neck. Suddenly, from everywhere, the Governors and the Weeping Angels begin to disappear. The dust of the bodies float away. In China, a machine collects this dust.
Woman: It is time for the reawakening of the great one. This is exactly the result that was wanted. The exact result that was prophesied.
Man: The Governors have been destroyed?
Woman: Of course. We knew they would figure out exactly what was happening, but they thought that would end their problems. Oh no, this is only the beginning of their problems. What comes next will shake them to the core.
Man: And the Coal Hill students will be brought back to life?
Woman: Yes. Not Quill though. She is too strong. The ones they called Charlie, Tanya, Matteusz and Ram will be kept alive. That’s what the great one wanted, after all.
Man: Excellent. They have no idea what is coming. The particles of the Governors and the Angels have been collected. The machine shall resurrect the great one.
Woman: No grave shall hold him. Today is the day that he returns.
Worshippers enter, and everyone circles round the machine. A figure materialises. The dust collects and transforms into the Trickster.
Trickster: Ha ha ha! The day has come at last. The day in which the Trickster returns!
Woman: The Governors have gone. Their atoms collected, as have the Angels. The Coal Hill students believed they have stopped the invasion.
Trickster: They have stopped the invasion, but I have much worse things in store.
Man: And when do you want to commence with what you have planned?
Trickster: Soon, but not yet. We shall leave them to rest. But soon, what I have planned will destroy those responsible for my death, and everyone else on this planet. Sarah Jane is gone now, and nobody can stop me. This is the end.
Woman: God bless you, great one. We await further instructions.
Trickster: I have no need for you anymore. You will be disposed of.
The Trickster kills all of the Worshippers and laughs.
Trickster: And so it begins…
As the Weeping Angels and Governors vanish, Charlie wakes up, as do Ram, Matteusz, Tanya, Maria and Luke. In the Hospital of Angels.
Luke: That was horrible. I remember dying. I remember the Angels snapping my neck. Oh dear it was agony. How are we still alive?
Charlie: I don’t know. I have no idea. It’s a miracle.
Maria: It still doesn’t help me get over the fact that Clyde and Rani are dead.
Charlie: I know that, and it will take you a long time to move on from that, but you’ve got to. Anyway, we’ve all had a really long day so I think it’s best that we head home.
Luke: Maybe you’re right. Maybe sleep is the best thing to do to get over this.
Maria: No. We shouldn’t just get over this. We should pay our respects. Anyway, we need to get the bodies out of the way somehow.
Charlie: We’ll deal with it another time. Let’s just get out of here for now. I’d quite like to find out where all the Weeping Angels went, how we came back to life and get some sleep. Follow me. I think I know the way towards the escape hatch-
Charlie spots the body of Quill. He crawls down.
Maria: Who is that? Another dead body. Do you know her?
Charlie: Yes I do. Very well. And this isn’t the first time I thought she had died, but this looks real. This looks like it hasn’t been faked. Quill is dead.
Matteusz and Tanya walk out of the flats and spot Ram.
Ram: Matteusz! Tanya! It feels so great to see you! Where’s Charlie?
Tanya: Charlie will be somewhere near. I’m sure he’s absolutely fine. I suggest that we head home and get some sleep.
Ram: Where did all the Governors and Weeping Angels go?
Tanya: We found a way to get rid of them. We all died, and for some reason that triggered the destruction of the Governors. It was simple really.
Matteusz: Which makes me think that something worse might be coming.
Tanya: Hundreds of people have died here today as a result of the Governors invasion. How can things get any worse than what we have been through today?
Matteusz: We are still alive. I don’t know why, but I just have a feeling that something worse is coming. I don’t know what, but I just think we should be prepared for the worse.
Tanya: Alright, if you say so. You are the clever one, I guess.
Ram: Well we’ve still got to deal with the aftermath of all of this shit. I think we should head home, try to get some sleep and then regroup in the morning.
Matteusz: I don’t think we can do that. We’ve got to find Charlie, Quill and Clyde and try to support all of those who have been affected by the attacks.
Ram: Alright, it’s up to you if you do that, but I’m not joining you. We’ve had one hell of a day and I just really want to get some sleep. Tanya, what are you doing?
Tanya: I think I’ll stay out for a while. I’m tired, but I can make a few more hours. And besides, we need to do all that we can to protect the community. That’s what the Doctor wanted us to do, and that’s what we will do. Whatever it takes.
Matteusz: You’re absolutely right, Tanya. Where do we start?
Ram: Do you hear something? Or is that noise just in my head?
There is a screaming noise. A portal appears. Captain Jack falls through.
Jack: Oh-Hi there! I think I’ve just seen some ghosts.
He collapses. They look at each other.
Ram: Looks like it’s going to be another sleepless night then.
Captain Jack will return in Torchwood Series 5: The 100…
The students of Coal Hill Academy will return in 2020...
