The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 6 Episode 4: Attack of the Semini Part 2

Previously: A planned party for Shanda-or really Rani-turned to chaos when aliens known as the Semini invaded with the intention of killing the guests. This was made worse by the arrival of Carla Langer, mother of Clyde, who wished to join the dinner party. Carla, who was only partly aware of the existence of aliens, became involved with events, and alongside Sarah, Clyde, Rani, Sky, Shanda, Gita, Haresh and Mr Smith, she was forced to protect herself and her friends from the Semini. The Semini were seemingly destroyed by a woman called Ace, who had returned to Earth. Sarah and Ace bonded over their travels with the Doctor, but when they arrived in the attic, Mr Smith detected alien life signals. It was clear that the Semini had hatched in Ace’s body, and their true invasion was about to commence.

At Rani’s house, everyone is recovering from events across the road.

Carla: I still can’t believe it. My son battling aliens.

Gita: I know, it’s so difficult to believe. Our children have been out there saving the world from alien invasions. It’s ridiculous, really, but so amazing.

Rani: Where’s Clyde?

Carla: He went to the loo, but he won’t be long.

Rani: How do you feel about all of this? With Clyde and Sarah Jane?

Carla: I’m a bit shook up. I knew weird things had been happening, like when Clyde’s father had that pendant, or when we all disappeared or when we all hated Clyde for no reason, but I never really knew about all of this. It’s stunning really, but also rather exciting.

Shanda: Will you be wanting Clyde to continue with all of this?

Carla: Of course. I’m protective of him, and I want him to be safe, but he’s growing up now, and he’s doing amazing things. I’m so proud of him.

Gita: That’s what I thought too but Haresh had a different thought about it.

Sky: What do you mean?

Haresh: I don’t think Rani will be safe around all of these Alien things. I don’t want her to continue like this. Didn’t you know, Sky? We’re moving. We’re putting the house on the market.

Rani: It was meant to be a secret, Dad.

Sky: You’re leaving? Really? Did everyone else know about this but me?

Rani: Clyde doesn’t know yet, and I don’t think he’ll take it well. Please don’t tell him. And I’m sorry, but it’s what they want. Sarah Jane’s okay with it.

Sky: I don’t know how I’ll cope without you coming with us.

Rani: Well you’ll still have Clyde, and you’ll have Sarah, and you’ll have Shanda.

Sky: I can’t believe it. When are you leaving?

Haresh: We don’t know yet, but I put the house on the market last night. It’s a great place, and I really will miss it.

Sky: Couldn’t you stay here? Why do you have to move?

Haresh: I don’t want to live opposite the house where all the aliens invade. It’s putting us all in danger and I want my family to be safe. I’m sorry.

Sky: You do what you have to do, I suppose.

There is the noise of a fog horn from Sarah Jane’s house. Clyde rushes downstairs.

Clyde: What was that?

Shanda: It sounded like an alarm coming from our place.

Gita: Are Sarah and the other woman in trouble?

Carla: If she is I’m sure they've got enough alien artefacts to protect themselves. What good could we do to save her?

Clyde: Quite a lot of good, Mum. Just you watch.

In the attic, Sarah calls the fog horn while the creature attacks her. She kicks it across the room, runs towards the cricket bat and wacks it. The Creature gets up. Clyde bursts in with a water pistol and squirts it, killing it.

Sarah Jane: Oh my god, thank you. I almost died.

Clyde: See you, Mum, I told you that a water pistol could do the world of good.

Rani: Where did that woman go?

Sarah Jane: That’s complicated, but we now know that it seems like the Semini can hatch onto the bodies of human lifeforms. That wasn’t the real Ace. The real Ace is probably out there on Gallifrey protecting them from Daleks or whatever.

Sky: We also know that these creatures are allergic to water. Clyde managed to kill it with a water pistol. We need a large supply of water.

Clyde: I’ve still got some inside of the pistol.

Sarah Jane: Well we need to collect as much water as possible. We’ve got to arm ourselves against these creatures, because there’s probably loads more out there.

Rani: What happened to Mr Smith?

Sarah Jane: He’s broken.

Clyde: Again? Seriously? Twice in a week.

Sarah Jane: Yeah I know and it looks unlikely that we’ll ever get him back again. That baseball bat of Ace’s is toxic.

Shanda: Ace might be in danger.

Sarah Jane: I have thought of that, and if she is, I don’t know what we could do. She could be anywhere in the universe and it’s not like we have a TARDIS.

Shanda: What’s a TARDIS?

Sarah Jane: We don’t have time for that. We need to prepare for a water fight.

The group all assemble water to defeat the Semini with. Clyde tops up his water pistol and the others grab a bottle of water each. A Semini approaches outside. They all duck down behind a pair of bins.

Sarah Jane: When I say squirt, squirt!

Clyde gets up and squirts the water at the Creature. Another approaches.

Sarah Jane: I told you to wait until I said squirt.

Clyde: You did, and we’ve got no time to lose.

Three more Semini approach. Gita, Haresh and Carla chuck their buckets over them.

Carla: I quite like being a part of this.

Haresh: I never expected to, but I do too.

A dozen creatures approach. They charge. Sky, Rani, Clyde, Sarah and Shanda manage to kill one each. The others continue.

Sky: What do we do? We’ve ran out of water.

Sarah Jane: We need to get more. Inside the house, quickly.

The group hurried into the house. They all grab more water. A Creature bursts through the window. Clyde kills it with his water pistol.

Clyde: Fill up your buckets, quickly!

Shanda: We’re going as fast as we can!

Clyde jumps out of the window and shoots the others with his pistol.

Rani: Is that all of them? Are they gone?

Sarah Jane: I don’t know. I wouldn’t get too confident.

Another creature approaches. Gita pours her bucket over it. Clyde and Gita hi five each other. The others all go into the attic.

Gita: I quite enjoyed that. More exercise than I usually get.

Sky: We won’t be doing this for much longer. All of us together.

Clyde: What do you mean? We’ll all be here, won't we?

Sarah Jane: She means all nine of us. I doubt Carla, Gita and Haresh would want to continue doing this with us. But it’s great having all of us together. It’s like we’re a team.

Carla: Thankyou for welcoming me into the team.

Sarah Jane: Well, don’t think it’s a permanent thing. This group is crowded enough as it is.

Carla: It seems like it’s not crowded enough. You wouldn’t have been able to defeat all those creatures if it wasn’t for our help, and that other woman with the bomber jackets help.

Rani: What are we going to do about Ace?

Sarah Jane: I don’t know if there’s anything we can do. I’m sure she’s capable of saving herself, if she still needs saving, of course.

Sky: We need to help her. She needs our help.

Sarah Jane: I guess so, but how do we find her? She could be anywhere in this universe, and this universe is rather big, you know.

Clyde: If only we had Mr Smith.

Sarah Jane: Let’s give him a try. Mr Smith, I need you.

Mr Smith opens.

Mr Smith: How can I help you, Sarah Jane?

Sarah Jane: I knew it would be worth a try. Are you okay after the injury?

Mr Smith: Luckily, us zodiacs do not have to compute pain. What do you need?

Sarah Jane: I need to find the real Dorothy McLean. Ace is out there somewhere, but it’s impossible to find her exact location without your help.

Mr Smith: She is behind me.

Rani: What do you mean behind you? There is nothing behind you.

Mr Smith separates into two halves. In the centre of these halves is a room. Everyone enters. Ace and Sarah Jane are captive in the centre.

Clyde: Sarah Jane? How are you in here? How is that possible?

Fake Sarah Jane: I’m sorry, Clyde, I just needed someway to get rid of you.

Mr Smith closes, locking the others inside.

Sarah Jane: I am the real Sarah Jane. That one out there is an impostor. A Semini had taken my form to trick you, just like it did with Ace to me earlier on.

Rani: I didn’t even know there was a room behind Mr Smith.

Sarah Jane: Neither did I. It was never there before. Mr Smith must have created it somehow. He’s clever like that.

Ace: There’s ten of us. Surely we could work out a way out.

Sarah Jane: The wall is impossible to break without Mr Smith opening it. It looks like the Semini managed to take Mr Smith under their control.

Rani: So we’re trapped in here? That’s just great.

Shanda: There may be a way out. If I manage to focus enough, I can use powers. I am not of this Earth so I have powers which are unknown to you humans. I could use these powers to break through the wall.

Ace: Then do it. Use your powers.

Shanda: I told you I need to focus. I have only ever done it twice before. I need complete silence. No distractions. Nothing.

Ace: She’s rather grown up for her age.

Sarah Jane: She’s an alien. They’re very different to you or I.

Shanda: Silence, please, if you want to get out of here.

There is silence. Shanda touches the wall. Her hand glows orange.

Clyde: Oh my god she’s a superhero!

Her hands turn back to skin colour. She drops to the ground.

Rani: Clyde, we could have got out then.

Clyde: I’m sorry. I just didn’t know what to expect. Are you a superhero?

Shanda: I could be, if you let me focus.

Sarah Jane: We were almost there then. I’d like to get back to the other side of the wall, so if we could all be silent again that would be great.

There is silence. Her hands glow again. She forces Mr Smith to split open again.

Shanda: There we go, it is as simple as that.

The fake Sarah Jane walks back in the attic. She grabs Shanda.

Fake Sarah Jane: Do you really think you could escape? We intend to complete our plan with no distractions and no obstacles.

Sarah Jane: And what exactly is your plan?

Fake Sarah Jane: We have been subjected to life in the soils of this planet for centuries, never aloud to grow, or adapt, or change, or escape. We finally have the opportunity to escape from the ground and rise up. This is the age of the Semini.

Ace: And you think we’re the only ones that can stop you? The Doctor will be here and he will smash your brains out.

Fake Sarah Jane: She is a feisty one. We have no intention of being stopped. This shall be the Age of the Semini, and you shall never escape from that newly created prison. Anyway, I will take the girl.

Sarah Jane: Oh no you won’t. You have no right.

Fake Sarah Jane: This is our planet now and we can do whatever we like with it.

Shanda: What do you want with me?

Fake Sarah Jane: You have powers. They can be used to destroy things, like you broke through that wall. Mr Smith, close the wall down again. If anyone manages to get out, then kill them on sight.

Mr Smith: Of course, Sarah Jane.

Sarah Jane: She’s not Sarah Jane. I’m Sarah Jane.

Mr Smith: Not anymore.

Mr Smith closes them in. Ace hits a wall with anger.

Ace: We’ve lost the only method of getting out of here and protecting us. They’ve won.

Sarah Jane: Not yet they haven’t, and we can’t let them. You’ve still got your baseball bat in your bag, haven’t you?

Ace: Yeah, but what good will that do?

Sarah Jane: Hit the wall. After a while it may start to break down.

Ace: Come on, that’s not going to work.

Sarah Jane: We can make it work. Give it a try. Because we need to try, otherwise everything we fight for will be lost.

Ace grabs the baseball bat and hits the wall with it several times. It eventually causes a dent.

Sarah Jane: Keep going, Ace! We need to get out of here and save Shanda!

Ace hits the wall several more times. Eventually she breaks through the wall. The wall opens. Ace exits but runs back when Mr Smith nearly zaps her.

Mr Smith: I have been put on strict instructions not to let you leave.

Sarah Jane: Please, Mr Smith. I don’t know what the Semini have done with you but you need to listen to me. I am the real Sara Jane Smith, and we are your friends.

Mr Smith: I have no need for friends. I shall serve the purpose that I have been set and the current purpose I have been set is to keep you inside of this Prison. If you attempt to escape then I shall destroy you.

Clyde grabs his water pistol and squirts Mr Smith with it.

Clyde: That should mess up his systems. Let’s get out of here.

Mr Smith: No, I cannot let you leave.

Clyde hurries away and ducks an incoming laser from Mr Smith. Ace wacks Mr Smith with her bat while Sarah Jane moves towards his disc drive. She takes out the disc which controls him, shutting down his systems.

Sarah Jane: I’m so sorry, Mr Smith, but it’s what had to be done.

Carla: We need to get a move on. Your friend could be in a lot of danger.

The fake Sarah Jane marches around Bannerman Road holding Shanda in her hands. She approaches a nearby army base. Sarah drops Shanda to the floor.

Shanda: Why have you taken us here? What do you want?

Fake Sarah Jane: I want domination over this planet. First of all we need to arm ourselves. You are a weapon, but you are not enough. We have come to this military base to get some weapons. You will break down all the defences that will stop us from entering and you will kill all the Guards who have potential to stop us.

Shanda: I’d rather die than help you.

Fake Sarah Jane: That could also be arranged.

Sarah and the Gang hurry out of 13 Bannerman Road.

Clyde: There’s not enough car spaces. What do we do?

Sarah Jane: Rani, Sky and Ace-You come with me. Clyde, you stay here with your mum, Gita and Haresh. They need protecting.

Clyde: What-That’s so unfair…

Rani (Laughs): That’s just how it is today, I suppose.

Sky: Don’t take it the wrong way, Clyde, but we’d rather have the new lady with the baseball bat. See you later!

Sarah Jane’s car rolls away. Clyde looks annoyed.

Clyde: Did you see that? They just left me.

Gita: You’re not the only one that they left....

Sarah’s car arrives at the military base. There are unconscious bodies on the floor.

Sarah Jane: It looks like they used Shanda’s powers to knock them out.

Rani: They’re not dead, are they?

Sarah Jane: No, they should come around soon. Let’s go inside.

There are more piles of bodies on the floor inside.

Sky: Looks like they’ve been using Shanda as a weapon.

Ace: She’s not the only weapon here. You have me, and my baseball bat. You saw the damage it could do when I bashed that computer to pieces.

Sarah Jane: I know he was trying to kill us, but I kind of needed him.

Ace: Well tough. If something tries to kill me, I’m the one who’s going to survive.

The Semini approach still holding Shanda and now possessing weaponry.

Fake Sarah Jane: Ah, the Bannerman Road crew are here once again. If any of you try to move then I will not hesitate to kill all of you, and the Girl. She’s not of this World is she?

Sarah Jane: You had enough time to ask her questions. Now it’s your turn to answer them. What are you planning on doing with these weapons?

Fake Sarah Jane: It will just make things a whole lot easier.

Sarah Jane: To me, it doesn’t sound like you have a proper plan. It just sounds like to me that you’re another petty race of monsters out to conquer the world with no idea of what to do with it, or no idea of how to execute it.

Fake Sarah Jane: We do not need a plan.

Sarah Jane: But you need a reason. You must have a reason to want to invade this world.

Fake Sarah Jane: It is fun. It is what the Semini enjoy. We bounce from world to world with no plan, sometimes being successful, sometimes not, taking out all the people who are capable of stopping us.

Rani: So you don’t have a plan? That is just pathetic.

Fake Sarah Jane: There is no need for a plan. We can find a way to execute this.

Ace: So you’re standing here right now with no idea of what you’re going to do next?

Fake Sarah Jane: We know we shall invade, and we know we shall kill.

Ace: What is the point? What is the point of endless bloodshed when you have no idea of what to do next. Many races have tried to invade this world-Daleks, Cybermen, Ice Warriors, Heamovores, but they usually have some kind of plan, some kind of intention. Your intention is to invade this planet and nothing more.

Fake Sarah Jane: We seek pleasure out of this.

Sarah Jane: I think I’d find this all rather unfulfilling.

Fake Sarah Jane: We shall destroy this world and you shall witness that. And there is no way for you to stop us from destroying the planet Earth.

Shanda jumps up off the floor and runs away. The Semini run after her.

Fake Sarah Jane: Semini! Grab her! She is valuable to us. You are not leaving here.

Sarah Jane: Oh, I think we will.

More army soldiers approach. The fake Sarah Jane transforms into a Semini and attacks them. The team hurry out of the military base and onto a damn.

Rani: Are you guys thinking what I’m thinking?

Ace: The Semini are allergic to water. We can throw the Semini into the damn and their race shall be gone.

Sky: But what if there are more of them out there?

Sarah Jane: I wouldn’t worry about them. They have no plan.

Fake Sarah Jane approaches in human form, still holding weapons.

Sarah Jane: And so we meet again.

Fake Sarah Jane: I know what you are planning to do and I won’t let you do it. We shall not be pushed over the damn.

Sarah Jane: You’re planning on killing millions of innocent civilians just for fun. I need to do something to stop you.

Fake Sarah Jane: We know you. We have heard about you. You will always be frightened to kill. You fear that it will haunt you to the Grave. You would never take a life.

Ace: No, but I would.

Ace swings the cricket bat at the Fake Sarah Jane but Semini attack her, pulling her towards the edge of the damn. Fake Sarah points a gun at Ace.

Fake Sarah Jane: If you make a wrong move, then I shall pull the trigger.

Ace: Just push her, Sarah Jane. Push her down the damn!

Sarah Jane: No. I will not take a life. You are right, Semini, I would never want to take a life. And anyway, what good would it do? There are probably millions of you out there somewhere, in the soils of this planet, waiting to attack. If I kill you, what good would it do?

Fake Sarah Jane: Exactly, it would not do any good whatsoever.

Ace: Just do it, Sarah Jane, it doesn’t matter if you’re taking a life. These creatures are plotting to destroy our world through whatever means necessary, and we’ve got to stop them. Your purpose is to save Bannerman Road and this planet from whatever threats it faces, is it not? If you are worried about taking a life just because it makes you feel guilty, then you aren’t good at your job. That’s just selfish.

Fake Sarah Jane: Remember-Any wrong moves you make will result in the death of your friend here. Where has Shanda gone? I need her.

Shanda jumps from the roof of the military base onto the ground where she kicks the Semini’s weapon out of its hand. Ace jumps up and throws the Fake Sarah Jane into the damn. A hoard of Semini approach.

Ace: Looks like our job isn’t over just yet.

Sarah Jane: You didn’t have to do that, you know. You didn’t have to kill her.

Ace: I told you, if something tries to kill me, I’m the one who’s going to survive. There’s no exception to that rule. You and the Doctor may be pacifists, but when my life is on the line, I will not hesitate to kill. Thank you by the way Shanda.

Shanda: No problem. Now we’ve got to deal with these creatures.

Sarah Jane: The Damn. If it bursts, then it will flood the military base.

Sky: Yeah, but wouldn’t it flood everywhere else too?

Ace: Are you saying that you want to take these creatures lives?

Sarah Jane: I’m just thinking. In about 15 seconds we’re going to be eaten alive by those things. I think we do need to do something.

Ace: Are you going to do something just to prove me wrong?

Sarah Jane: Pretty much, yes.

Shanda: I’ll go down to the damn. I can burst it open so enough water can flood into the military base. I’ll make sure that it doesn’t cause a threat to Bannerman Road.

Sarah Jane: Be careful, Shanda, because if that damn bursts, we’re all dead.

Shanda jumps into the damn. The Semini approach.

Rani: One thing-How are we going to escape? We’re trapped up here with those things.

The water floods the military base. The Creatures begin to suffocate. Shanda swims through the flood and back outside.

Shanda: It’s only a matter of time before this area is flooded too.

Sky: How are we going to get down?

Shanda: I can carry two of you in both of my arms and we can jump down. I’ll take the two younger ones. Can you both swim?

Rani: Yeah, of course.

Sky: I don’t know. I’ve never had the chance.

Shanda: Well we’ve got to hope for the best. I’ll be back for you two once I have delivered Rani and Sky to the ground safely.

Shanda jumps down. Ace climbs up onto the roof.

Sarah Jane: You seem quite able for your age.

Ace: I’m 53. And I try my hardest to keep in good shape.

Sarah climbs up onto the roof as the water floods the area they were standing. At the bottom, Shanda delivers Rani and Sky to safety and blocks the damn off again. Police cars arrive and inspect the scene.

Constable: What is going on here then?

Shanda: Sorry, Sir, there’s been some fishy business going on.

Sarah and Ace climb down the bottom of the building.

Sarah Jane: Good evening, Officer. Lovely weather, isn’t it?

Constable: It’s you. Sarah Jane Smith. You’ve been on the news.

Sarah’s car returns to Bannerman Road. Clyde, Gita, Haresh and Carla exit.

Gita: Sarah, there you are-Are you okay?

Clyde: We’ve got something to worry about. You’re on the news.

(On Television) Newsreader: 13 Bannerman Road, the home of Investigative Journalist Sarah Jane Smith, has now been discovered as a hub for alien activities. Pictures sent in to us from an anonymous number seem to show an attic, with lots of unknown artifacts and a high tech computer on the wall. This particular source claimed that it had been a secret for many years but now it could be discovered.

(On another channel) Trinity Wells: In London in England, a hub for alien activity has been discovered. An attic in Bannerman Road-

Sarah switches off the television in the Living Room.

Rani: But who would know this? Who was their source?

Sarah Jane: I had a man visit me the other day wanting a photograph and a look around but I was too busy. It seems like the secret is becoming public. Strangely around the time that Haresh and Gita found out.

Haresh: Don’t point fingers. This isn’t a soap opera.

Shanda: People know about this. Does it matter?

Sarah Jane: Yes it does, actually. This could put us in a great deal of danger.

There is a knock at the door.

Sarah Jane: Nobody answer that.

Ace: Don’t worry. If anyone tries to hurt you I will give them a whack with my bat.

Sky: Are you planning on sticking around here?

Ace: I don’t mind. It depends if you want me around here.

Sarah Jane: You’ve got other places to be, Ace. It’s fine, we can deal with all of this ourselves like we have done for years. You go home. You are married.

Ace: I know, I know. And Gallifrey won’t defend itself. I’ve got a family now too. Me and my wife Angela were thinking about adopting, if they allow adoption on Gallifrey. I haven’t really looked into that.

Sarah Jane: I’d like to meet her someday.

Ace: Yes, I'm sure you will. My teleporter will be in that wall behind Mr Smith, so I best go and find it. I’ll see you all another time. Probably. Hopefully in a situation where we aren’t being attacked by aliens.

Sarah Jane: That would be unlikely.

There is another knock on the door.

Reporter (Shouts): Sarah Jane! Would you take some time to do an interview with us?

Another Reporter: Daily Mail. We want to ask a few questions.

Third Reporter: Trish Banker from the Daily Express. Please could we talk.

Sarah Jane: It seems like I should go and answer that.

Clyde: No, don’t worry about that. Just let it be.

Carla: I don’t think it would be wise to leave the house for a while.

Sarah Jane: No, you might get harassed. Come along then, Ace. I’ll help you crack that wall back open. It’s time for you to get back to Gallifrey!

Next Week: Sarah’s old friend Celeste Rivers calls on Sarah Jane and the gang for assistance when an alien artifact is discovered near the wreckage of the now destroyed Military base. The Artifact allows those wearing it to glimpse into the future. The first person who discovers it has a terrifying vision of the future-He knows that one of Sarah Jane’s gang is about to die, and Sarah must do all that she can to stop the future from becoming the present.
